Zoegi came into being as away to help people understand where their food comes from. A chance trip to Sicily and a journey into the many different flavours the island has to offer helped us to better understand this. Sicilian farmers are proud of their crops and the ways they produce their product. From Palermo to Catania the many regions offer up their own unique tastes and flavours. Each with unique ways of growing and nurturing different foods.
The initial idea started in China. We became aware that while in Europe we take our food security for granted in many other parts of the world this security is just not present. When we visited Sicily we saw not only a way to guarantee the authenticity of food but a way to help smaller independent producers reach a wider market.
